Lisa Dodd was a highly recruited softball athlete in high school. She considered stand out academic universities like Stanford, Notre Dame, and Northwestern and stand out softball universities like Arizona, Cal, and Tennessee before selecting UCLA for her college education. She believed UCLA offered her the best of both worlds. She received a full athletic scholarship and went on to become a four year starter, an All Conference, All Region, and All American player there, while receiving a degree in Sociology and a minor in Women’s Studies. As a freshman Lisa won an NCAA WCWS Championship with the Bruins while batting third and earning All Tournament recognition. Her senior year she led the team in home runs, RBI’s, and slugging percentage and was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player. She finished her UCLA career with 36 home runs, eighth best in Bruin history.
